All That Glitters: VP’s Jewelry Controversy

Internet personality Victoria Paris launched her jewelry collab with Fragille, a high-end jewelry maker out of Belgium on February 10th as a popup in New York. It became available on their website to ship on February 16th and is a collection of creative, yet classy jewelry that anyone can enjoy.

The Controversy:

The prices of the jewelry are seen as a little bit ridiculous. The pieces are all made with 925 sterling silver, meaning 92.5% of the silver is pure. This is considered a more affordable way to produce quality silver. As for the outside, the gold jewelry is all gold-plated, which is the smallest amount of gold you can put on a piece to call it gold. This method can lead to skin irritation and tarnishing. The silver pieces are rhodium-plated to prevent tarnishing.

All pieces are priced between $102-$318 leaving a lot of supportive followers unable to purchase anything.

The Influencer’s Closet: People’s Choice Edition

The People’s Choice Awards were last Sunday, and a couple of your favorite influencers were in attendance. Featuring well-known and stylish internet personalities such as Alix Earle, Francesca Farago, and James Charles, the fashion element did not disappoint.

Billie Eilish didn’t seem too pleased with the A-list influencer’s presence, as she was overheard saying something to the effect of the TikToker’s need to go. It's important to note that only a select few influencers were in attendance on Sunday evening, but were apparently enough to get under her skin.

Checkmate: Getting Verified on TikTok

If you've perused TikTok profiles, chances are you've encountered the elusive blue checkmark on certain accounts. This badge symbolizes TikTok's confirmation of an account's legitimacy and identity of celebrities, brands, and public figures.

Here’s the criteria you need to meet:

  • Active presence within the past six months.

  • Authentic representation of a real individual, entity, or business.

  • Completion of profile details, including a username, bio, profile photo, and at least one video.

  • Notability demonstrated through multiple credible news sources.

  • Secure account with 2-step verification and a verified email.

Tip: There’s no certain follower amount needed to become verified.

Here’s how to apply:

  1. Head to your profile settings within the TikTok app.

  2. Access the verification section and follow the prompts to submit your request.

  3. Provide credible written media coverage, such as news articles, to support your application.

Contrary to rumors, TikTok does not charge for verification. It’s free!
