Popular YouTuber Addison Pierre Maalouf, known on YouTube as YourFellowArab, returned home from Haiti after being kidnapped and detained. Maalouf is known for exploring historically dangerous places and sharing his experiences with his followers.

He had been in Haiti for 22 days, hoping to interview a famous Haitian gang leader and warlord named Jimmy Chérizier, better known by his nickname Barbecue. Before he could reach Barbecue, his vehicle was stopped and overtaken by 400 Mawozo gang members. Maalouf and his guide, Jean Sacra Sean Roubens, were kidnapped and held for a ransom, which was eventually partially paid and led to their release. Neither men were injured and are home safe.

Stay tuned for a special in-depth newsletter this Friday with all the details.

True Influence

Caitlin Clark has become the face of basketball this year, exponentially boosting viewership for women's basketball. She’s the epitome of true influence.

Here’s how she’s impacted the game of women’s basketball so far:

  • The Iowa-South Carolina NCAA championship game was the most gambled-on women’s game for multiple sportsbooks, including BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, and ESPN BET. Caesars VP of trading said the amount was more than double the previous record.

  • She skyrocketed women’s basketball viewership. The Iowa-South Carolina championship was the most-viewed basketball game in five years, with over 18.7 viewers, peaking at 24 million viewers.

  • The championship on Sunday has become the second most-viewed non-Olympic women's sporting event in history, second only to the 2015 Women's World Cup Final, which attracted 25.4 million viewers.

  • Tickets to the women's semifinals were reported to be twice as expensive as the men’s, going for an average of $2,900.

These landmark achievements outshine previous records and bring new viewership to women's basketball. Clark’s ability to attract and engage viewers is a perfect example of what it means to be an influencer.

After days of speculation, Dr. Miami’s long-term social media manager, Santina Tizzi, finally announced that she quit. Santina gained popularity over the years for the edgy and trendy content she created for Dr. Miami. She appeared in most of the content posted for him and quickly became a fan favorite. Santina exponentially increased his views and grew her own TikTok account to over 800k followers.

This news shocked fans because they hosted a podcast together and seemed to have a close friendship outside of work.

Santina plans to continue working as a social media manager, although she hasn’t accepted any offers yet. She doesn’t plan on speaking out on the subject and wants to move on drama-free.
