The Influencer Newsletter

Happy New Year! We couldn’t be happier you’re taking us into the new year with you. This week we’re covering how to get a verified badge on Instagram, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s highly anticipated release, and mega-successful digital debut. Not to mention we settle the debate over which is better, Canva or Adobe Express, and we’re going to finish it off with our Station’s Creator of the Week.

Let’s get right into it.

It’s important to know that there’s a big difference between a verified badge, and being Meta verified. Meta verified is a paid subscription through Meta that proves that you are who you say you are. A verified badge confirms your authenticity as a public figure, celebrity, or brand.

Here’s how to request a verified badge:

  1. Log in to the Instagram account you want to verify.

  2. Navigate to your profile by tapping on the profile icon.

  3. Tap "More options" in the top right, then go to "Settings and privacy."

  4. Under "For professionals," select "Account type and tools."

  5. Click "Request verification."

  6. Provide your full name and necessary identification (e.g., government-issued ID).

  7. Follow on-screen instructions and submit your request.

Although the verification process may take a few days, it's important to keep in mind that not everyone will receive a verified badge, even if they meet the requirements. Don't hesitate to grow your following and give it another shot in the future.

Gypsie’s Digital Debut

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been leaving her digital imprint on social media ever since her release from prison on December 28, marking the end of an eight-year incarceration. At 32 years old, she previously pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2016. Gypsy Rose had endured years of victimization from her mother, who grappled with the mental illness Munchausen syndrome by proxy throughout Gypsy Rose's childhood. After countless documentaries and videos were shared about her, her story gained a huge following.

Sharing her first taste of freedom, Gypsy Rose posted a selfie on her Instagram account the day after her release. The account, established in August and verified in October, has now garnered an impressive 4.8 million followers. She also has created and maintains a TikTok profile with 1.5 million followers.

Embracing her role as a public figure, speaker, and author advocating awareness about Munchausen syndrome by proxy, Gypsy Rose aspires to leverage her social media influence for positive change.

Both Canva and Adobe Express are great ways to create content whether that’s for personal social media posts, a presentation for work, to make creative logos, or dynamic videos.

There’s no doubt that both platforms are helpful tools to elevate your content. But which one’s better?

First and most importantly, let’s talk about price points.

The two sites offer pretty similar packages. They both boast great complimentary features such as access to limited stock photos and graphics, thousands of social media templates, and limited access to AI generative photos and design.

With Adobe Express Pro and Canva Premium, you get access to these features and more:

Adobe Express Pro:

  • 250 generative AI credits.

  • Advanced video editing features.

  • Thousands of premium photo & video templates.

  • Over 195 million stock photos, videos, and music.

  • Access to brand kits.

  • Unlimited post-scheduling.

  • More than 25,000 fonts.

  • 24-hour customer service Mon-Fri.

  • 100 GB of storage.

Canva Premium:

  • 20+ AI tools.

  • Advanced video editing features.

  • Thousands of premium photo & video templates.

  • 100 million stock photos, videos, and music.

  • Access to brand kits.

  • Unlimited post-scheduling.

  • Thousands of fonts.

  • 24/7 customer support.

  • 1 TB of cloud storage.

The Breakdown:

Based on their premium versions, Canva has the edge on Adobe Express. With significantly more storage, more video templates, three more formats to export to, and Canva for Teams allowing more collaboration. Not to mention Adobe Express users have reported some slowness and lagging issues.

Adobe Express has only been around since 2021, so the younger platform may need some time to catch up.
